Entering food photography competition

Yesterday I entered 6 photos as well as this blog to Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition. It was a close call as I had left it for the last minutes to enter my images.

I've been busy with some lovely food photography projects and had not had a chance to think about the competition. I am very happy with the selection of photos I submitted and I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed. I regard Pink Lady Food Photography of the Year competition as the Oscar of food photography and would love to be recognised for my art. Unfortunately as the rules of the competition state, I cannot show you the submitted photos, but if I get short listed of indeed win a category I'll upload them for viewing.

Jewelled Rice recipe demonstration

Last Friday I was asked by U3A in Holywood, NI to do a demonstration of a recipe from my blog. I was delighted to be asked, this is not something that I had done before, but I was confident that one of my recipes from this blog would go down well.

After some consideration I decided to demonstrate my vegetarian, Middle Eastern Jewelled Rice recipe. I thought it is unusual and relatively easy with the limited cooking facilities that was provided at the demo.

I was delighted and excited at the number people attending the demo. I was confident that providing I get my timing right, the Jewelled Rice would not let me down.

I must say, I was very happy with the feedback from the attendees who tasted the food after the demo and this is something I would like to do more of.  I will surge ahead with the blog and provide more mouth watering and perhaps more unusual recipes that you all enjoy.

Please sign up to my blog (on the right hand column) to receive notifications for new recipe updates.

Cream Cheese Spirals - Friday afternoon treat

Often on Fridays, at lunch time, I bake something tasty for our afternoon treat. This week I decided to bake cream cheese spirals from an old and very thick book I have by Martina Day. They are light and delicious..... I'm ashamed to say that we found one was not enough and treated ourselves to second one. Has any one else out there bakes these?!!!

Speaking at Chef Knowledge Exchange about food photography

5 Oct 2015 - I was invited to speak at Chef Knowledge Exchange in L'Derry about food photography. This is an event held by Unilever Food solutions IRE annually and this year's theme was allergies and/or food intolerances. It was great to be asked to participate in something I am so passionate about and sharing my knowledge with talented chefs at the event. I very much enjoyed meeting like minded/foodie people in the industry.

Ian Orr from Browns Restaurant in L'Derry gave a great Demo using Knorr products.

Some photos below, taken with my ipad.
